Ho provato per sedici anni a fare la pianista per capirlo. . Penso spesso alle fotografie non scattate, possibili testimonianze di momenti che avrebbero per sempre cambiato il corso delle cose. Nelle mie immagini ogni storia è sempre e ancora possible pechè racchiudono ogni possibile punto di vista. I often wonder what Wilhelm Kempff observes during the execution of the third movement of Beethoven’s Sonata Op.31 No.2, when he takes his eyes off the keyboard and the score to direct them far from the end of the piano. I have been trying for sixteen years to become a pianist to understand it. . I often think of untaken photographs, possible witnesses of moments that would have forever changed the course of things. L’archivio di frammenti che ne risulta viene ricomposto in una serie di immagini che lo contengono integralmente, restituendo simultaneamente una moltitudine da cui nulla resta escluso. &nbsp; Il processo di conoscenza avviene a distanza: è obiettivo, chirurgico, non permeato dall'esperienza diretta. Questa lontananza permette una visione d'insieme e del dettaglio allo stesso tempo. &nbsp; Le immagini che ne risultano sono intrinsecamente effimere: necessitano di uno sguardo che le percorra, le riattivi, le riporti in contatto con la realtà da cui sono state estrapolate e le includa in una memoria personale. In questo atto di ricongiungimento, l'archivio non si esaurisce ma si mantiene aperto a infinite variazioni. Place Holder is a cycle of images born out of the claim to be “absolute”: capable of containing the complexity of the real more than our eyes or a photographic shot ever could. The landscape of the Dolomites, which covers a geographical area of approximately 15,942 km², transcends its physical majesty and becomes an object of detailed study: all the elements that compose it – mountain ranges, peaks, refuges, bivouacs – are isolated, cut out, and catalogued according to purely visual criteria. The resulting archive of fragments is reassembled into a series of images that contain it in its entirety, simultaneously returning a multitude from which nothing is excluded. The process of knowledge takes place at a distance: it is objective, surgical, not permeated by direct experience. This distance allows for a view of the whole and of the detail at the same time. The images that result are intrinsically ephemeral: they require a gaze that traverses them, reactivates them, brings them back into contact with the reality from which they were extrapolated, and includes them in a personal memory. Nei miei collage tutte queste varianti sono visibili contemporaneamente e attendono che lo spettatore le attraversi per estrapolare uno dei percorsi possibili. The tarot cards always need to be interpreted, otherwise they would be simple images, unable to tell us a part of a story that has already happened or could still happen. The strength of the reader's gaze and his ability to make them resonate with an inner experience provide one of the possible variants of interpretation.
